Following a successful period of continued growth, Vacuum & Atmosphere Services (VAS), which has its HQ in Smethwick, is up for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce awards for Excellence in Manufacturing and Engineering and Small Business of the Year.
The Chamber is staging the awards to celebrate the achievements of the region’s business community. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 16th September at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
The awards finalist placings come on the back of a run of successes for VAS. The firm has secured ISO 17025 which enables holders to demonstrate that they generate valid results, thereby promoting confidence in their work both nationally and around the world. VAS will use the accreditation to show their reports and certificates can be accepted worldwide without further testing.
VAS recently bought Norfolk-based distributor and stockist of industrial vacuum pump spares Vacuum Pump Spares Limited after a successful trading period and a strong order book of domestic and international business. The spares business has moved to the VAS HQ in Middlemore Road, Smethwick.
Managing Director Mike Long said: “The entire team at VAS are pleased to see our company recognised for recent successes by being named as finalists for two leading awards from the Black Country Chamber of Commerce. VAS has been an active member of the Chamber for a number of years so we are pleased to be named among the leading businesses in the region.”
VAS was launched in 2000 by two engineers to offer services for vacuum and atmosphere furnaces. Now employing 31 staff, the company has progressed to offer the full service package to the heat treatment industry, from bespoke new furnaces to spare parts.
VAS provides furnace services for the likes of Mercedes, GE Power, Moog and Collins Aerospace. Renowned as being a trusted engineering company run by engineers, VAS has expanded its products and services for clients in the UK and abroad.
